Hey Melbourne, I will be in your town next week, speaking at the Pacific Arts and Culture Forum
The CPAF forum series brings together critical thinkers, creative practitioners, academics and arts industry professionals whose work engages with the contemporary Pacific.
11:30am – 5:30pm Friday 5 April
The Performance Space at Footscray Community Arts Centre
I will also be performing and hosting The Contemporary Pacific Arts Festival’s Community Day is a family friendly event celebrating the coming together of diverse Pacific communities living here in Melbourne. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to learn and experience the richness of our closest neighbors from the Pacific.
Celebrations include a concert showcasing great Australian Pacific artists as well as dance and spoken word, crafts and food stalls. Workshops and demonstrations include Hula Fitness, Pacific Circus, weaving, carving, children’s activities and much more!
The day will begin with the Te Karangatahi Waka, a 40ft long traditionally carved Maori canoe being rowed up the Maribyrnong River by 20 Maori Warriors.
Waka and Opening Ceremony: 11am – 12pm
Performances: From 12pm to 4pm
